Analysis of social media groups on migration decisions and experiences

Analysing public online groups of migrants on social media, particularly Meta, in different countries that attract people interested in migrating and transiting, and who have arrived in destination countries in Africa, the Gulf, and Europe. UM6P conducted text analysis to assess the aspirations, capabilities, intentions and experiences migrants discussed in these groups. Elizade University supported UM6P to identify relevant Meta groups and conduct the literature review. Depending on the quality of the data and preliminary findings, T2.3 will explore the modelling of network nodes based on public online group discussions with a view to detecting migrant decisions on where to go and the impact social media has on actual mobility. The resulting research paper (D2.2) adds to the in-depth individual perspectives provided by T2.2 and WP3 by engaging with group dynamics in discussions about migration decisions.
